Portrait

Hallo!

I am Thomas,

radio producer since 1999, science journalism entrepreneur since 2004, German in New York since 2013.

I report and tell true stories at Deutschlandradio, Science Notes and elsewhere, covering topics at the intersection of science and society. Sometimes, they've been good enough to win an award.

As a hobby, I code handy tools for my (and others') journalistic work, such as a customized recording and transcription tool for Asterisk phone systems, or converters to open Reaper sessions in Hindenburg and vice versa.

I enjoy gathering people and foster cross-pollination as a volunteer with the Bosch Alumni Network, the Meeting of Independent Radio Producers, and at tracks, a community of podcast and radio professionals that I created. I'm also a member of journalists.network, the German Science Journalists’ Association WPK, the German Journalists' Union DJV, and AIR, the Association of Independents in Radio.

Most of my work is in German. You can find English language stories here and here.
